6 Meals Spaced Evenly Apart

On the Medifast Diet 5&1 plan, I eat six small meals a day. That may sound like too much and at first it does take some getting used to but in the long run it is well worth it. Medifast advises to eat each meal every 2 to 3 hours. So I developed a timetable that works well for me.

In the morning I try to eat every 2 hours then space the meals out during the afternoon to as close to 3 hours as possible. Typically my Medifast Diet meal timetable looks like this:

7am
9am
11am
1pm - Medifast Shake with Higher protein (MF 70 Shake)
4pm - Lean and Green meal
7pm

This may change if I wake up too early and can't go back to sleep. That really throws a wrench into my day because I have to space all meals out about 3 hours because I'm awake longer. It can be difficult at times but it is really a process of training myself to re-think about how I eat, when I eat, how much and how often I eat.

From what I understand the process of eating small meals frequently makes the body realize that it is not being starved (food is coming every 2-1/2 hours or so) and therefore it allows you to lose weight. As odd as it may sound, if you go too long between meals, your body won't let go of the fat it is storing. It tries to store the fat thinking it might need it later just in case it is being starved.

I realize that sounds a little freakish but eating small meals often and spaced appropriately apart does help you lose weight.
