Does the Green in Lean & Green Really Mean Green?
One of the most common misunderstandings about the Medifast 5 &1 Lean and Green meal is that the Green does not necessarily mean Green. :)
Medifast calls it Green because it's an easy way to remember that the Green portion of the meal is a vegetable. But it's important to understand that there are several green vegetables that are not appropriate for the Medifast plan because they are too high in sugar like peas and brussel sprouts.
There are also veggies we can have that are not green like cauliflower, summer squash, red and yellow peppers, tomatoes, egg plant, portabella mushrooms, red cabbage, turnips, radishes, etc.
But it's important to remember too that there are veggies that are not green that aren't appropriate because they too have higher sugar content like potatoes, corn and carrots.
I hope this clears up any confusion about the Medifast 5&1 Green meal.
