Exercise: Staying Motivated
I used to often find exercise a pain in the butt and a major inconvenience. But now I try to make it something I look forward to every morning (6 days a week). Here's what I do and although it may not appeal to you, I'm sure you'll find something that will. Look for things of personal interest to you that will get you motivated and start your day off in a positive light.
Prior to the Medifast Diet, I was walking so I continued to walk. When I don't walk for some reason, I notice that I am hungrier. So that too is motivation to get out and move.
First thing every morning, I take both of my dogs and we go walking in a local area where they can go off leash for about 40 minutes. We sometimes see an older couple there with their two dogs and all four dogs have a blast playing for about five minutes. Dog treats are distributed and we briefly chat (while walking) about what silly stuff the dogs have done the previous day.
When I'm not walking with someone else, I bring along my iPod that I downloaded audio books, podcasts and radio shows that relate to my business into. I also have a cell phone with me at all times just to be safe as I'm in a remote area. If things were to get really boring (very seldom), I could connect to the Internet on my cell phone, surf the web, or check my email, but that generally interferes with my walking speed.
So in a nutshell I'm getting my exercise, the dogs are having fun and getting their exercise, and I'm learning new stuff relating to my business or I'm just having a book read to me. It is very motivating and something to look forward to (for me and the dogs!) since I generally only use my iPod for this purpose or when I'm in my car.
Think about what personally motivates you and try to work it into a walking or exercise routine. It might be as simple as walking on a treadmill or working out on an exercise bike while watching a favorite DVD, pre-recorded soap opera, listening to your favorite music, or getting together with friends to share your exercise time with. Whatever it is, do it only when you exercise and I guarantee you'll look forward to it every day.
