Follow the plan exactly but be cautious.
Once you start the Medifast program, I suggest following the program without any alterations. This will give you an accurate idea of how the program will work for you as designed for the first 30 days. Your body will be going through a lot of changes including your taste buds. If a specific Medifast food doesn't appeal to you early in the program, that may change later on. Give yourself time to adjust. Although most people posting recipes do so with good intent, they may not be thinking of the number of carbs and amount of fat they are adding to a single serving or may not realize that an ingredient they are using in their recipe is not permitted in the weight loss stage of Medifast. This too is why you should avoid food alterations until you thoroughly understand the program.
If you use an altered recipe (one which was not provided by Medifast), always be sure to check that the ingredients are permitted and do the math to determine the exact portion size. If you're unsure, ask me. One wrong meal size or ingredient can throw your body out of the fat burning stage which means you will lose weight slower and you might experience hunger until you get your body gets back in line with the Medifast plan.
Remember that one little bite of a food that is not on the plan may derail your efforts. Your health and weight loss efforts are worth far more than a few moments of experiencing a nibble of a non-Medifast approved food.
