Removing Odor from Shirataki Noodles
Looking for a way to remove the unpleasant odor from Shirataki Noodles? Here's your answer. It's quick, easy and an old Japanese cooking tip.
The process is simply dry roasting the noodles which ensures that the noodles will absorb the flavor of what you will be adding and it elimates the initial odor too.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat.
- Add the shirataki noodles and dry roast for approximately one minute.
- When they are dry, you often hear a squeaking noise as you move them around the skillet.
- You may wish to drizzle a little oil (optional), or simply add the stock or sauce you are going to use with your recipes. If you are on the Medifast Diet, I'd suggest not adding the oil. If you do, record the extra fat and other nutritional information in your MyMedifast Meal Plan directly from the oil bottle label.
That's it! Shirataki Noodles are wonderful when prepared correctly. So don't let the odor prior to dry roasting discourage you from trying them.
