Summer Travel While on Medifast
Summer vacation for many people on the Medifast program may cause some apprehension. Don't worry though, because fortunately the Medifast meal replacements are conveniently mobile. I have traveled more in the last 4 months than I have in years and have personally experienced the ease of Medifast's mobility and rediscovered just how much fun it is to travel when you are not carrying around extra pounds on your body.
I'll be venturing off again for a week in Florida to visit with my late brother 's friends and companion. It is going to be one of those mixed emotions trip. I'm looking forward to talking to his friends and spending time with the people he loved but yet a cloud of sadness looms overhead. Although I anticipate having fun, I also anticipate it will be emotionally stressful with many tears revisited.
Preparing myself for the trip since I am still in the weight loss phase of Medifast has been easy though. I've done it enough now that it has become second nature. So I thought I'd jot down a few tips for you so you can preplan your Medifast program when you travel this summer.
Medifast Travel Tips
- I preshipped a carton of Medifast Ready-to-Drink Shakes to my final destination. This keeps me from having to carry them or put them into my check-in luggage. RTDs are heavy so it only made sense to ship them ahead. I called yesterday to be sure they arrived, and they are there waiting for me.
- I made 2 dozen Medifast muffin meals and froze half of them. I'll be taking one dozen with me and I'll have another dozen ready for me when I return. Coming back from a trip is usually hectic and I'm exhausted, so I knew I wouldn't feel like baking when I returned home. That is why I preplanned my baking so continuing with the Medifast program when I return will be just as convenient. When I arrive at my destination though, I'll be refrigerating the muffins. Florida has high humidity and the muffins will mold if left out too long.
- I made a half dozen Medifast crackers from the Medifast cream soups that I will be taking with me. These are a nice way to eat Medifast soup on the go.
- One of my first tasks after getting to Florida is to take a quick spin through a supermarket and buy my favorite low carb/calorie salad dressing, a few of my favorite fresh veggies (I haven't had a good tomatoe since I was in Vegas last January!), my new favorite soda (Caramel Cream Diet Pepsi), water-packed tuna and water-packed Tyson's chicken in the pouches. These meats will be my Lean if I get into a situation where an approximate meat isn't available to me.
- I have an empty bottle in my purse for water after I get through airport security.
- Sugar-free breath mints follow me wherever I go. Since I'm in the fat burning state, I sometimes feel like I need them. {grin} But hey, that's a good thing!
- I've got lots of new skinny clothes so I can show off this new body and perhaps help a few people understand the benefits of the program. There is nothing more motivating than helping other people lose weight and accomplish their goals. It keeps me motivated, focused and inspired. I love talking about the program. I'm sure that if you have lost enough weight where people are noticing, you are talking a lot about the program too. Doesn't it feel great to be able to share a solution to a problem that many people need and have been looking for all their life?
