Traveling with Medifast: Day 3
On Saturday, the third day of my Vegas trip while on Medifast, we checked out of the Luxor Hotel and checked into Bally's where my business conference was to be held. This gave us another area of the strip to explore. I also met my niece who lives and works in Vegas as a blackjack dealer. It's always interesting to hear her stories from the perspective of someone who works in the Vegas tourist industry. But meeting her meant we'd be going to a restaurant off the strip and potentially more Lean and Green issues. Or would it?
I should have mentioned previously that if I were the type of person who could eat raw vegetables such as salad greens without potential digestive problems, finding a suitable Green meal in Vegas wouldn't have been quite so difficult. You can get a salad just about anywhere. Diverticulitis runs in my family which means that salad and some types of raw vegetables will sometimes cause intestinal pain, bloating and gas. If I had been simply going to Vegas just for personal vacation, the situation would have been different. But the last thing I wanted to do was cause myself to have excess gas while sitting in a 12+ hour a day conference for 2-1/2 days. Not fun. So to be fair, I didn't want to discourage anyone who travels often and who might be thinking about trying the Medifast Diet. My situation was entirely different and sometimes popping a Prevacid just doesn't alleviate the problem.
My niece took us to the Gordon Biersch Brewery since the food was known to be delicious. Neither my niece nor I drink but my husband had a beer. I was worried I'd have difficulty finding something on their menu for my Lean and Green since most of the menu items were sandwiches. But the waitress was a doll in helping me find a breadless sandwich with an appropriate sized piece of beef that would fit my diet and a side of sliced tomatoes.
I still didn't get in my water and still felt a little dizzy but the rest of the day went well. I ate more Medifast muffins, chicken crackers and a bar for the remaining Medifast meals that day. All in all the day was wonderful and the helpful waitress sure helped make it that way.
