Traveling with Medifast: Day 4

My fourth day while traveling with Medifast went so much smoother. I ate the usual Egg Beaters omelet for breakfast and for the rest of meals, I had my Medifast muffins, chocolate pudding, and a caramel nut bar (my favorite bar!). My Lean and Green meal went so much better thanks to a kind waiter at the Flamingo.

Having had such difficulty finding appropriate Lean and Green meals in Vegas it was a pure delight to have a cooperative waiter two days in a row who were understanding about the situation. At the Flamingo Tropical Breeze Cafe the waiter allowed my husband and I to split a Prime Rib dinner. The prime rib was 10 ounces so it worked out well to split in half. The dinner came with about 3/4 cup of steamed vegetables which mostly was green beans and tomatoes. I ate the vegetables that were appropriate for the Medifast Diet and my husband ate the baked potato and rolls. It worked out really well except for I was lacking on the Green portion.

So to make up for those lacking calories, I ate a packet of White Cheddar Soy Crisps and 1 ounce of almonds for an evening snack. Whether that was appropriate to do, I don't know. But it seemed to work out well and as I mentioned in an earlier post, I actually lost 2.5 pounds while I was in Vegas.

Medifast Tip: I bought a bag of raw almonds at my local grocery before leaving for my trip. I then put 1 ounce of almonds on my food scale and put them into snack-sized Ziploc bags. They were perfect for a grab and go snack. If you don't have a food scale, one ounce of almonds is somewhere between 20-24 nuts. But be cautious about eating them too often if you love nuts. One ounce of almonds is 164 calories and 6 carbs. I'm kind of nut-o-holic so I stayed away from nuts up until this point. Now that I'm home, I've been craving them, but weaned myself off of almonds after the first day back. I know myself well and can't let eating almonds become a habit or my diet will be in trouble.
