Traveling with Medifast: Day 5, 6
Days 5 and 6 on my trip were spent at my business conference. Although Medifast worked well at the conference, I did get an unexpected surprise.
On the morning of the fifth day I went to eat my usual Medifast Muffins and found that all of them had molded. They were fine the day before, so it was shocking and very disappointing. I wondered how long un-refrigerated muffins would last, and well, now I know. Fortunately, I had the foresight to have brought extra Medifast meals with me and although drinking shakes and eating Medifast pudding wasn't as on-the-go and convenient as pre-baked muffins, it turned out to be fine.
Medifast Lessons Learned: Try to keep some of the muffins chilled to delay the molding process. Even if that means using the hotel room's ice bucket. And definitely always pack extra Medifast food just in case something goes wrong like molding food, flight delays, inability to eat all of the Lean and Green portion, etc. I actually put three days worth of Medifast food in my carry on just in case my check-in luggage was temporarily lost. How committed is that?! ;)
When lunch was served at the conference, I slipped up to my hotel room and mixed a shake. That was a surprise too. At home I'm accustomed to using chilled water from a water cooler. Medifast shakes aren't so great using cold tap water. But they were tolerable and filling. One of my worries was that someone from the conference would ask me out to dinner like they did last year. It didn't happen and I was so glad. I really didn't want to have to explain my dieting decision or worse, insult them by not eating. It all worked out well because after drinking my shake and checking my business email, I went back down to the conference dining area and networked with everyone.
Medifast Tip: For better shakes, keep chilled water in your fridge if you don't have a water cooler.
Instead of going to the conference after party bash, my husband and I slipped off to the Blue Man Group show at the Venetian. Awesome! I think of all the casino hotels we visited, the Venetian is the most gorgeous. I love those old vintage paintings and architecture. Simply breathtaking. I just wish I could afford to stay there. There lowest rate suite is $679 a night. But the Venetian is so gorgeous. You just have to do a walk through if you ever get the chance.
