What is BMI? Why should you care?
BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is defined as the individual's body weight divided by the square of their height. That sounds like a mouthful {pun intended} but don't worry. The easiest way to determine your Body Mass Index is to check a BMI chart where all the calculations have been done for you.
If you dont' have a BMI chart, please let me know your mailing address. I'll send you one at no cost to you. Or you can check your BMI with this online version.
Experts consider a BMI below 19 to be underweight and a BMI of 20 to 25 to be healthy. If your BMI falls between 25 and 30, you are considered overweight. And a BMI of over 30 is considered to be overweight or obese.
You should care about your BMI, because it is another way to measure your healthy body weight just like the reading you see on the scale and after measuring yourself with a tape measure. It is another tool to help you monitor your health and now that you are on the Medifast and Take Shape For Life programs, you understand that optimal health for life is your ultimate goal. We can never have too many tools to help us achieve optimal health.
