What is the Best Weigh In Day?

One of my blog readers who will be starting the Medifast Diet in January, wrote me yesterday and asked which day is the best day to set as his weigh in day. He wanted my opinion and asked why I chose Mondays.

I chose Mondays as my weigh in day because I started my Medifast Diet on a Monday. But if I had it to do over again, I might have chosen a Friday. Simply because on the weekends my daily routine is interrupted more than not and I would suspect that my weight loss would show better results before the weekend. I don't know this for sure, but I'm guessing since on the weekends I tend to not drink more than 8 glasses of water a day, my meal spacing isn't as routine, and sometimes will go out to breakfast (Egg Beaters is my best friend) with my husband on Sunday mornings.

My best advice would be to take a close look at your lifestyle. Start the Medifast Diet on the day of the week you are most likely to remember to weight yourself and when it is convenient for you. Then weigh yourself every week on the same day at the same time preferably in the early morning.

Every Monday I weigh myself first thing in the morning just after using the bathroom and before I drink anything. I always weigh myself wearing the same clothing (my night gown) and in my bare feet.

I've been on the Medifast diet for 3 weeks. My weigh in day is Wednesday. I'm glad to hear that you were thinking Friday would be a better weigh in day, because I was thinking the same thing! Do you think it would be okay if I changed it now or would that mess things up?

My weigh in day is Monday. I chose it because I work weekends and Monday is my only day off. Like you it's the first day of a non-routine day for me.

My weigh in day is Monday too. I didn't put any thought into it though. I started MF on Monday, Sept. 4th.

I weigh myself every three or four days -- I know I'm supposed to pick a day, but I have a severely messed up leg (multiple surgeries, more to come) and when I feel I've lost weight, I want and need to see it.

I fully realize I am not in compliance with their recommendations -- but I don't care :) Many weigh every day - I don't do that, but picking one day a week as the designated day can create dread or anticipation out of line with what we are trying to do - de-emphasize food, not make a DAY of Reckoning each week.

Just this person's opinion for what it's worth -- not much.
