Why Doesn't Medifast Allow Certain Low Fat or Low Carb Foods?
Medifast Question: ... "Do you know why Medifast recommends that we not consume low fat sour cream or whipped topping? A lot of them are low carb." ~ Dawn
My Answer ... "Hi Dawn. That's an excellent question and one many Medifast Dieter would want to know. My guess would be that they want us to break free from our addictions to foods that are generally high in calories and fat. Also, sometimes these type foods do contain higher counts of carbs, calories or fat. For example, a product that states it is low fat may contain more carbs than what they want us to consume per food item. Or a product that states low carb might contain more calories or fat than is considered appropriate for the diet. Does that make sense?
When I have questions like this, I post a message on the Ask a Nutritionist board in the MyMedifast community. They are generally very good at getting back to you. Be sure to include specific brand names if they are not generic and the complete nutrition info from the container. In this way, it saves them time and they can get back to you quicker because they don't have to look up the nutrition info.
With that said, I'd love to know the answer too! So if you post the question on the MyMedifast community board, please let me now their response. If you are not registered at the community board, I'd suggest doing so because you'll find so much more about the Medifast Diet plan, and you'll have tons of support from other Medifast dieters. If you'd rather not register or post a message board question, let me know and I'd be glad to post the question for you, but I'd need the details about the foods in question. I hope this helps." ~ Defragged
